PLForlagene er begyndt at indstille sig på en ny situation. Som jeg har hørt en redaktør udtrykke det, så sælger de ikke bøger, men læseoplevelser. En læseoplevelse er medieuafhængig. Jeg vil gå skridtet videre og sige, at vi i forhold til artwriting beskæftiger os med sprogbaserede oplevelser. Det drejer sig ikke blot om læsning, men om oplevelsen af sprog gennem en bred vifte af medier og situationer.

På Forfatterskolen har vi prioriteret tværæstetiske samarbejder lige siden skolens begyndelse. Eleverne har samarbejdet med studerende og professionelle fra andre kunstarter – komponister, dramatikere, billedkunstnere, filmfolk, arkitekter. Der har været tilknyttet skuespillere og musikere i fremførelsen. Det pædagogiske sigte med disse samarbejder har været at bevidstgøre eleven om egen praksis og samtidig give dem mulighed for at stifte bekendtskab med tilstødende områder, hvor teksten også optrådte. Kernen i Forfatterskolens arbejde er og har været litteraturen. Men rammerne for litteraturen blødes op i mødet med andre kunstarter, med digitaliseringen, med de performative sammenhænge, som den indgår i. Vi befinder os midt i en rivende udvikling. Forfatterskolens deltagelse i artwritingprogrammet ligger i naturlig forlængelse af denne udvikling. Vi glæder os over etableringen af artwritingprogrammet i Aarhus.

Publishers have started adapting to a new situation. As I’ve heard expressed by an editor, books themselves are not what sells, it’s the very experience of reading. A reading-experience is independent of media. I will take this one step further – in art writing we’re concerned with language-based experiences. It’s not just about reading, but the experience of language through a wide range of media and situations.

At Forfatterskolen(The National School of Creative Writing) we’ve prioritised collaborations across different aesthetic fields ever since the school was founded. The students have collaborated with other students as well as professionals from other art forms – composers, dramatists, painters, filmmakers, and architects. We’ve worked with actors and musicians performing the writing. The didactic aim with these collaborations has been to make the students aware of their own methods while giving them the opportunity to experience related fields, where texts can also be found. The core of our work at Forfatterskolen is and has always been literature. However, the borders of literature are blurred in the meeting with other art forms, with digitalisation, with the performative context in which literature also exists. We are in the middle of a rapid development. Forfatterskolen’s participation in the Art Writing-conference is a natural consequence of this development. We’re very pleased by the formation of this conference in Aarhus.
