PRÆSENTATIONER / PRESENTATIONS

Tore Rye Andersen

Editor of the magazine Passage. Has among other things written the book The New American Novel and has in recent years carried out research in how the book as a medium influences the literary meaning-making.

Through a number of concrete examples Tore Rye Andersen discusses how the materiality of the book – including not least its cover – has a decisive influence on our perception of the literary work.

_________________

Writer and visual artist. Has worked with writing in many different ways in both his literary activities and visual art: From collective writing processes over personal statements to invisible writing. Kaspar has used the writing, the text and the statements as a way of meeting the world in different ways. To him it is natural to express himself through both primitive, reflective and subtle levels. In his presentation he will reflect on the mutating character of the writing in his own practice.

Anders Bonnesen

_________________________

Visual artist – more specific: sculptor. His works testifies an absorption in the textual thinking’s collision with the material and often the works draw upon specific literary sources of inspiration. He has made a number of lompoons/books that has that in common that they are a kind of attempt to produce literature (if it really is literature) without writing it your self. Anders Bonnesens presentation will introduce his art practice with focus on its relation to language and literature.

Per Aage Brandt: semiotiker, filosof, forfatter, oversætter og musiker. Tidl. professor ved Aarhus Universitet og Case Western Reserve University, Ohio. Bosat i Frankrig.

Semiotician, philosopher, writer, translater and musician. Former professor at Aarhus University and Case Western Reserve University, Ohio. Resident in France.

The book is a serial produced, “extended” object (Descartes: res extensa) and at the same time a spaceless and timeless immaterial “thinking” object (res cogitans). In this respect does it look like an animal – especially a human (body and spirit). Hence this the books immense significance for religion, judicial system, administration and literature (including music). Per Aage Brandts presentation is based on Jorge Luis Borges’ book The Book of Sand.

Adam Drewes

Adam Drewes: forfatter.

Ph.d. in art history, postdoc at Aarhus University with the project “Print a Thing!” about particularly the visual art’s use of 3D-printing. Has researched in sculptural analysis and amongst other things published the book Accumulations: Moderns Sculptural Phenomena. The presentation takes its starting point in the American artist Tom Burtonwood’s 3D-printed books, which consists of reproductions of sculptural objects from museum collections and details from buildings. These sculptural books draw upon both the tradition from artistic book and facsimile (books which exactly reproduces a subject for example patterns, photographs or text). Typically the book does not have to be “read”, but they make use of the format’s invitation to intimacy. The book opens itself up to you when you handle it. The pages must be turned over and touched and the otherwise inaccessible thing is brought closer to both the “reader” and each other.

Postdoc at Institut of Art and Culture Studies at University of Copenhagen. Has written PhD thesis on digital poetry and carries out research in new media philosophy and aesthetics, art and technology.

In her presentation Mette-Marie Zacher Sørensen will present digital works, which in different ways uses writing in installations. She will show pictures from the experimental laboratory “The Cave” in Brown University, where the spectator is surrounded by words.

Furthermore she shows types of installations, which moves in a virtual space between the screen, the book and the observer and finally some examples of installations, where there isn’t any visible words, but where words are understood as the underlying programming and tags of classification.
